The IQ of America

“Is America still great?  For where comes the greatness of a nation, except in the strengths of its leaders?”   Tom Clancy.

When we talk about “America” if you ask me who grew up in a South American Country, we refer to the Continent of America that goes from the Northern Artic lands of Canada, to Tierra del Fuego in Argentina.  Perhaps, some day all America will be unified to become a continental power however, we have a lot to do before that happens.

The correct and humble question to ask would be “Is the United States of America still great?”  Well, after a bit of traveling this summer, I can say, yes, the USA is still God’s country.  I drove through the beautiful states of Minnesota and Wisconsin this month, and definitely they have been endowed with beautiful green pastures and a plethora of resources.

Resources are a God given.  So, what about the people?  A lot of the people are still doing great and work hard for their communities to bring prosperity to the beautiful rolling hills of the “Dairy” State.  We visited an Amish community, and it was interesting to see how they maintain their wholeness, by being isolated from the world.  Sadly, a contamination of immoral proportions was infiltrated in the purity of these rolling hills and forests, as there were signs of “Adult Entertainment” announced before the entrance to each small town along the road in Wisconsin.

For someone who was born in the late fifties, the USA has changed a great deal since then.  As my parents relate, it was safe to leave your child in a baby carriage outside the supermarket while they went shopping at a New York grocery store.  If that happened today, Child Protection will be out there looking for you.

Not to think about conspiracy theories, but if you look at our statistics, in 2012 8.9% of the population needed treatment for a problem related to drugs and alcohol, (and only 1% received treatment);  35% of the population today is obese, which seems to indicate that the stressors in our daily life facilitate choices to anesthetize ourselves.  Was there a conspiracy to make drugs available to the youth in the 60’s to damage the future of the USA?  Is that what we are seeing today?  In 2014, we are the generation responsible for taking this country to greatness or to a complete failure.  If those in leadership lead our country to legalize all the evils that will keep people under a physical stupor, well, the unimaginable can happen, in one short decade.  We can and will fall quickly like the great empires who fell under the weight of immorality.

So, are we like the genius child in the classroom, whose reputation takes him/her to become an underachiever?   If you sit down at a coffee shop to watch people at a mall or on the street, many in our generation look very disheveled, dirty, full of tattoos, or have very revealing outfits.  Is our nation chronically depressed?  Have we lost our pride?  The first step to feel good is to take a shower, put on some clean and decent clothes, get a haircut, so we look good.  Second step: Go to church, and get our priorities straight.  Third step: Get a job or volunteer to make a contribution to your community.  A productive work ethic helps.   And finally: Get our pride back as a nation, otherwise, there are other smart people in the world who want our place, and they will get it soon, if we allow the carelessness to take over our lives.  It would be sad to say, that the culture which developed the IQ (as a measure of human intelligence) on planet Earth lost their livelihood, due to indifference.
