50 Years of Neurological Institute of Colombia Foundation

We congratulate Dr. Jaime Gomez who founded the Neurological Institute of Colombia 50 years ago today August 16.  The Neurological Institute which was next to Javeriana University of Bogota, had the most actualized equipment in Latin America, including an MRI, CT Scans, etc.  A lot of the personnel was sent by Dr. Gomez to specialize in US and Europe with fellowships.  Dr. Gomez performed 1,000 surgeries of the brain and spine, treated more than 200.000 patients of the Nervous System at the Neurological Institute and created the School of Neurology and Neurosurgery that formed many of the Neurologists and Neurosurgeons in Colombia. Congratulations to Dr. Gómez for this important contribution to the health of Colombians!


Felicitamos al Dr. Jaime Gómez, fundador del Instituto Neurológico de Colombia que cumple 50 años de fundado hoy Agosto 16.  El Instituto Neurologico localizado detrás de la Universidad Javeriana en Bogotá contó con el equipo mas especializado de Latino America, incluyendo MRI (Resonancia Magnética) y CT Scans (Tomografía Computadorizada), etc.  Gran parte del personal fue enviado a especializarse fuera del país por el Dr. Gómez con becas.  El Dr. Gómez hizo 1.000 operaciones del cerebro y la columna vertebral  y se atendieron mas de 200.000 pacientes del sistema
nervioso en el Instituto Neurológico y creó la Escuela de Neurología y Neurocirugía que formó
muchos de los Neurólogos y Neurocirujanos de Colombia.
