El Virus de la Humildad
Cada
experiencia humana trae una lección y lo importante es el crecimiento y
aprendizaje producido por la lección.
Luego de sobrevivir esta pandemia del virus Corona, qué hemos aprendido? Cómo seremos diferentes? Cómo cambiará la sociedad y nos hará mejores
seres humanos? Creo que esta experiencia
puede permitirnos progresar a la próxima etapa de evolución.
Bueno, ahora
que hemos estado tres semanas, casi un mes de cuaresma, acompañando a Jesús en
el desierto, deshaciéndonos de las cosas supérfluas y enfocándonos en evitar
contraer el virus, creo que una de las lecciones que he aprendido está
relacionada con la humildad. Esta
pandemia nos ha puesto en las rodillas y debemos seguir en las rodillas, ya que
no se sabe qué más cosas podrían venir.
Si, la humildad. Somos muy
vanidosos, y la sociedad promueve esta vanidad. En este encierro, ya no hay
pestañas postizas que valgan, uñas artificiales q sean importantes y estamos en una época de “pelo
loco” ya que no se puede ir al salón de “belleza”.
Aunque pareciera
algo negativo, esta oportunidad nos hace volcar hacia el interior, y contemplar
lo que es la belleza espiritual. Se ve
la belleza en quienes hacen algo filantrópico por los demás, y se enfocan en
deshacerse del egoísmo, lo cual puede crear un mundo más humano, donde cunda la
generosidad…
Esta época
en que las familias han tenido que estar juntas, no separadas por el trabajo,
ni los viajes, inicialmente puede haber sido difícil, pero ahora si vamos
superando esa necesidad de escapar, a lo mejor vamos a extrañar ese calor
humano de la familia, que hemos perdido por andar corriendo por el mundo. Entonces, cómo dejar de correr, para mantener
el espíritu de la familia? Posible que
el teletrabajo coja más fuerza y más personas trabajen desde casa? Más videoconferencias?
No solo ha
sido el virus el culpable de tanto estrés, pero su efecto en la economía. Luego de esta lección, creo que la economía y
las empresas deben prepararse para una tele-economía. Asegurar que no haya tele-desempleo, sino
facilitar que la gente esté conectada a la economía a través de su trabajo
desde la casa. Si, la economía debe
moverse de ser un dinosaurio a evolucionar con los tiempos. Este es el momento de enfocarse en que cada
ser humano tenga un sitio donde vivir, para protegerse de pandemias como
estas. Una prioridad para los países. Antes de lanzar cohetes a Marte, esa
prioridad, que cada ser humano tenga el derecho a un hogar debería establecerse.
En fin, doy
gracias porque las cosas podrían haber sido peores. Porque tuvimos tiempo para nuestras familias,
y para reflexionar y apreciar que la carrera por la vida, no es el propósito
final de nuestra existencia. Porque
durante estos días, tuvimos electricidad, agua y estuvimos conectados por
internet.
También esta
ha sido la prueba, del sacrificio que significa el estatus del liderazgo, de
carreras como la medicina. Esto no ha
sido una guerra para los soldados, sino para los presidentes, líderes de
compañías, médicos, enfermeras y demás personal. Pasaron el test? Escogerían estas posiciones otra vez si
tuvieran la oportunidad?
Aquí es
donde vemos los verdaderos líderes.
Líderes con corazón, que les importa la humanidad. Este virus de la humildad, nos ha llevado a
conocernos un poco más, a re-estructurar nuestra vida diaria. Algo tan pequeño como un virus, pudo parar el mundo. Fue algo inesperado, pero tal vez…
necesitábamos la lección.
The Virus of Humility
Each human experience brings a
lesson and what is important is the growth and learning produced by the lesson.
After surviving this pandemic of the Corona virus, what have we learned? How
will we be different? How will society change and make us better human beings?
I believe that this experience can advance us in the next stage of
evolution.
Well, now that we have been three
weeks, almost a month of Lent, accompanying Jesus in the desert, getting rid of
superfluous things and focusing on avoiding contracting the virus, I think one
of the lessons I have learned is related to humility. This pandemic has put us
on our knees and we must continue on our knees, since it is not known that more
things could come. Yes, humility. We are very vain, and society promotes this
vanity. In this confinement, fake eyelashes, artificial
nails are not so important, and we are in a time of "crazy hair" since you cannot go to the
"beauty" salon.
Although it may seem a negative
thing, this opportunity makes us turn inward, and contemplate what spiritual
beauty is. The beauty is seen in those who do something philanthropic for
others, and focus on getting rid of selfishness, which can create a more human
world, where generosity spreads ...
This time when families have had to
be together, not separated by work or travel, initially may have been
difficult, but now if we are overcoming this need to escape, perhaps we will
miss that human warmth of the family that we have lost by running around the
world. So, how to stop running, to maintain the family spirit? Is it possible
that teleworking takes more strength and more people work from home? More video
conferences?
Not only has the virus been to
blame for so much stress, but its effect on the economy. After this lesson, I
believe that the economy and companies should prepare for a tele-economy.
Ensuring that there is no “tele-unemployment”, but facilitating that people are
connected to the economy through their work from home. Yes, the economy must
move from being a dinosaur to evolve with the times. This is the time to focus
on each human being having a place to live, to protect themselves from
pandemics like these. A priority for countries. Before launching rockets to
Mars, that priority, that each human being has the right to a home.
Anyway, I am thankful that things
could have been worse. Because we had time for and with our families, and to
reflect and appreciate that the race for life is not the end purpose of our
existence. I am thankful, because during these days, we had electricity, water
and we were connected by internet.
This has also been the test, of the sacrifice
that means the status of leadership, of careers like medicine. This has not
been a war for soldiers, but for presidents, company leaders, doctors, nurses,
and other personnel. Did they pass the test? Would you choose these positions
again if you had the chance? This is where we see the true leaders. Leaders
with hearts, who care about humanity. This virus of humility has led us to know
ourselves a little more, to restructure our daily life. Something as small as a virus, was able to stop the world. It was unexpected, but
maybe ... we needed the lesson.
