A book by William Kennish published in NY in 1855 (Google books)
gives info about the Atrato-Truando Canal. 158 years ago he
recommended two tunnels to cross the Baudo range. In 1970 The
Interoceanic Canal commission published a report. Vol 5 is route 25
the A-T canal. Nuclear explosions were advised. They were not
accepted.
I wonder if the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) can cut the mountain
to reach the Pacific. Kennish estimated the two tunnels will be
about three miles long.
WE know India has built more that 4,500 canals, perhaps you can tell
us who is in charge of that agency.
With appreciation and best wishes, Jaime G Gomez, MD
Also, here is a picture of the Interoceanic Commission 7 Volume
Collection found in the Public Library in Florida.

During that period I sent into that country five surveying parties for
the purpose of finding a practical line for a canal without locks. The
result of all these surveys in that valley was to show that the Atrato
