End Poverty in Chocó by 2017

10 Goals for the Development of Choco

1. Nutritional state of the population.  Not only childhood mortality is the highest in the country, but young mothers are also malnourished, creating a vicious cycle of malnutrition and lack of thriving.

2. Health, prevention, basic care.  There are hospitals in Choco, but no physicians.  Universities need to provide residents and interns to practice in these hospitals and attend the population.

3. Clean water.  The water resources in Chocó are spectacular.  Not only Chocó has coasts in the two oceans, but there are plenty of rivers, and rain.  Water purification is a must to reduce the parasitism in the children and population in general.

4. Sanitation (sewer system, wells).  This will provide employment to engineers, plumbers, electricians and construction workers.

5. Housing:  High percent of the population lives in huts, which are flooded every time it rains.  Housing needs to be built to meet this need.

6. Education:  There are schools and the Technological University of Choco.  However, there is a high degree of illiteracy among adults.  Schools need to be available in the towns to reduce the illiteracy.

7. Employment:  65% of unemployment is affecting men between 18-60 years old.  There are plenty of areas to create employment by working on the infrastructure and education.  There is a need for nurses, teachers, engineers, plumbers, electricians, construction workers, small business.

8. Electricity:  With two oceans and a plethora of rivers, dams and water mills can produce electricity to the rural areas of Choco.

9. Infrastructure, roads, and bridges.

10.  Interoceanic Canal in Atrato-San Juan Rivers and/or Atrato-Truando Rivers this one approved by law 53 of 1984.

Focusing our efforts, these goals could be met in the next 5 years.  Through the Sowing Seeds 4 Future, we pledge to end malnutrition and childhood mortality by 2017.  You can make a difference by giving back to the community and leaving the world a better place.
